If Apple Were Santa: What I’d Ask to See Tomorrow

If Apple were Santa, I would write to him this wish-list letter with a few things I would love to see on the new iPhones tomorrow. I do understand that some of these features would be technically difficult to implement or penalised by lower profit margins for the company. However, I’m a product designer, so I focus more on usability and practicality of features rather than squeezing money out of every inch of the phone. So here is the list …

… and no, I don’t expect any of that to be delivered by Apple tomorrow.

  • Reintroduction of smaller iPhones similar to iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 13 mini. I know it’s hard to believe, but not everyone wants to carry a small brick in their pocket.
  • Reintroduction of the fingerprint scanner to complement Face ID. Face ID is convenient until it is not. There are real-life situations when we want to unlock the phone without having to raise it and look at it face on.
  • Support for Apple Pencil. This one is for power users, but I don’t see why the Apple Pencil shouldn’t work with iPhone.
  • Charging support between Apple devices. For example, the ability to charge your phone by iPad or AirPods by iPhone.
  • Other significant enhancements or design changes would be a foldable iPhone.
  • And on the software side, instead of liquid glass UI, fix dictation accuracy and AutoCorrect issues.

How about your list of features? What would truly impress you if Apple delivered tomorrow?
